This week I decided to start the series Being Mary Jane. I thought I would check it out since I had already seen Being Mary Jane the movie and also the first season was on Netflix. It's a show about a successful news anchor with money and power trying to balance the struggles of being black woman in America. I watched the first episode and it had me intrigued mostly because this show isn't afraid to be real about current issues in America, such as race.

The first episode started with Mary Jane being portrayed by Gabrielle Union, spending time with her on and off again ex-boyfriend David, at the same time her other love interest, Andre, shows up at her door. The scene then switches to Mary Jane's job at a big news station "SNC" and her coworkers/best friends are introduced, Kara, and Mark. The episode finishes as we find out Mary Jane is having an affair with a married man.

Right from the first episode I can tell this show is going to keep me on my toes and interested. I hope to see David more throughout this season because I like him and Mary Jane together. I think I will continue to watch this series, it is only on it's third season so I don't have that much catching up to do. I definitely recommend it, it is worth a watch.

I started watch Being Mary Jane when it first came out and I immediately fell in the love with the show. The show brushes up on many issues that are evident in America. It adresses issues about racism and shows the struggles of a single woman in her late thrities. While also tackling major issues, David adds a romantic tone to the show that piques the interest of many people. Overall, the show is a great watch and I reccomend it to anyone who is considering watching the show.
