While on Twitter on Thursday, a trending topic caught my eye. The hashtag "RIPAMY" was trending. After a bit of reading, I found out that a 16 year old girl named Amy Joyner from Delaware was killed after being beaten to death at school. The incident was extremely shocking and is hard to believe. Amy was attacked by a group of people inside a school bathroom and was recorded on video. It is very upsetting to read that these young girls beat an innocent girl to death and the people that recorded the video did nothing to stop it. Although the investigation is only starting, no charges have been made and the reason for the fight is stillunclear. This tragedy has started to open the eyes of people in the Wilmington, Delaware community as well as the country. I think some people may blame social media for the violence that occurs amongst high schoolers. It may play a part, but I think parents and educators need to take a stand against in school violence. Anti Bullying campaigns have become common in schools but I think people need to take it more seriously because it is a serious issue. Students are supposed to feel safe at school.
