If I get less then 8 hours of sleep a night, I am a totally different person the next day. I am short tempered, quick to judge, I am not able to listen clearly and I want to eat all day. If I get 8 hours I am pleasant, happy, focused and stay on track! I believe that there is no 1 way for everybody especially since the majority of or sleep patterns are set in stone by age 5. How our parents treated sleep for us a babies and toddlers plays a monumental affect on how we sleep as adults and everybody's environment as a baby was different so it would make sense that our relationship with sleep would be personal and individual.

Hello Janet,
It is a very interesting topic so it catches my eyes! I think that the research is not really important to decide people's sleep hour. The importance is how the people live. When I was in my country I was okay to sleep 3 hours per day because I have many homework and academe after school, so if I sleep early it is not going to finish at all. However, I have been in the US for 3 years. I want to sleep more than 8 hours because I do not have an assignment like before and school finish early. So, I think if researcher says it is enough to sleep 5 hours, I would say that people can sleep more or less they want and they can. Thank you!
