I always thought that social media is very fun, so I do post a lot. But I thought I always had is, what would I do differently in life if I didn't had social media. So I decieded to remove my accounts for a while just to try it out and to see if I would do something differently. I know I am going to sound addicted now, but I'm not going to lie. The first three days where "hard". Just because I was used to look into my social medias while I was bored and had nothing to do. And it kind of also gave you and idea of what everyone else where doing. During these three first days I was thinking, "well, I'm going to take back my social media in one week" "I have to at least make it one week, right?"

And to be honest, now it has been more than one week, and I really don't feel like taking it back yet. This is going to sound weird, but I enjoy life in a different way. And not only that, I barely charge my phone nowadays. Instead of looking down into my phone, I literally talk to everyone. For example, if I would take lyft/uber I used to talk some and than look over social media. Instead of that I don't even look at my phone once now, I'm just talking with the drivers.
Another thing was that I was out a couple of days ago, and my phone was not even up once. Before, I could have it up and try to take a cool picture to post, while now, I'm living more at the moment, sounds cliche but it's true.

I just think it is interesting how much social media could make someone unsocial in real life. And for now, I'm just enjoying being without it. So, that's what I'm going to do.

That's awesome that you decided to do that Elinor. I can just picture all the times wasted going to check my social media accounts, when I could've been reading a book instead and getting more knowledge. I feel like a lot of people go on just to show off what they're doing to the world, and like you said, they don't live in the moment. It's mostly about popularity these days with all that, and that was never the type of person I was. So what I do is follow a few friends, artists, and a few accounts that I can actually learn something from. I removed everyone that would go on Twitter just to complain. And since I follow such a few amount, I don't have to be on the app all the time, as it is easy to catch up on the stuff that I missed. It isn't such a bad thing if you can simply only follow the right people who might help you learn about something new.

That is really cool that you gave yourself that challenge and followed through with it. I try to not be on my phone too often, but it is true that there is a pull that kind of makes you want to check your phone or take it out to post a cool picture. What made you want to do this in the first place? It’s funny, every time I see people with their phones out at the dinner table or in public I roll my eyes, but then I catch myself doing the same thing and am annoyed with myself. I don’t take it out at dinner though, because I find it extremely rude. After reading your post, I will definitely lessen the amount of time that I spend checking my phone.
