Instagram is a mobile application that has completely taken over the social media world. Throughout the past, I personally have taken notice of the rise and fall of certain social sites, such as myspace and more recently facebook—at least with the people around me. This application started as a place where people could simply take a photo and post it on their person profile to share with their friends, and also follow others’ profiles where they could view, like, and comment on their photos. Today instagram has grown tremendously, in my eyes replacing older social media sites, you can now: send direct photos to a single person or group of people with a personal message, post videos, and customize your posts (pictures or videos) with different filters and editing tools. Instagram allows people all over the world to find common ground where they can connect to each other—whether you’re viewing pictures belonging to your friends/family members, or random people who share similar interests, is up to you.

Although you are unable to post from a computer, instragram users are able to log in and view pictures on the internet, but in order to share something you must be using the application on a mobile device (or other device like an ipad). The instragram world is massive with 200 million active users monthly and over 75 millions active users daily. Celebrities, musicians, models, sports teams & their players, political figures, big companies, and many more are now using this application to keep their fans and followers updated. With all forms of social media in our society though, there is always some kind of controversy. Some issues that have come up with instagram—that I completely understand—are parents who are unable to limit exactly what their children are posting and seeing on there. Because this application is extremely easy to use, younger and younger kids are gaining access. It seems like there are also problems with these children becoming self conscious because of certain images and comments they see being posted. The Instagram team does have limitations for what you are allowed to post, and also gives people the ability to report inappropriate content; but obviously some stuff will make it’s way on there to be publicly displayed, until someone is notified to take it down.

I love using instagram, and I will admit that I probably spend a lot more time checking it than I should. This app allows me to see what’s going on with my friends and family who I am not able to see and talk to all the time, especially the ones who live far away, in a different state or country. I also like finding recipes by looking at healthy food blog instagram profiles or searching a specific hashtag. In conclusion this generation revolves around social media, one particular one being instagram, and there are many benefits to using it as a way to socialize. There are always going to be some concerns with everything we do, but I believe in this situation the good that instagram does definitely outweighs anything that could be considered bad.

Ahhhh! I totally agree with you! I use Instagram every single day and it makes me feel closer to my friends and family that I don't get to see everyday. I live in California now but the majority of my friends and family are in Florida, so it helps me keep up with what they are doing! I think it is a great way to interact with your friends and it really has changed social media. Also, I like your point on how they limit what you're allowed to post. Personally, I believe it is a great idea because like you said, younger children are starting to use it and they need to be limited to what they should be seeing. Overall, I loved your post and I can only see Instagram getting better and better every year with the ever-changing advances in technology.

Instagram has definitely taken over the social media world right after twitter. Personally, I don't use Instagram very much I'll post once every two to three months or maybe longer but I know friends who lives are consumed by it. It can be frustrating to go to a restaurant or a favorite hangout and rather than enjoy the moment want to take pictures of the food or place. I completely understand loading pictures of you and your friends hanging and i enjoy looking at them but I do think it can have some impact on people. I agree that children should be limited to what they see and post because it's really not hard to take a picture and load it or view other people's pages. I noticed that it even some people can be really cruel to others especially with the ability to load memes and input your own caption to other people's pictures. I wish Instagram had a certain rule or limitation when it comes to those situations. Overall, Instagram does have great pages where you can view workouts, interests, hobbies, celebrities, and anything else that you want. Most importantly, it is a great app and great form of media to share pictures of your life.

I also spend a lot of time browsing through instagram. I can be on there for hours just looking at pages of memes and funny short videos. Instagram has been a huge part of my social life because it is one of the few ways my old friends can communicate with me. Not only do I look at other peoples pages but I also post pictures of myself making funny faces for fun or because I get bored. I like how I can be tagged in photos so people won't have to tell me to look them up. I can just see what I was tagged in instantly. Instagram is one of my favorite social network apps to use.

Alexis, I also agree with you post and believe that Instagram has taken over social media. This is a great app that's easy to use and helps you stay connected with friends and family. I also use Instagram for my job and find it to be a great tool in order to reach our target audience. Although I also use Facebook and Twitter for our company, Instagram by far receives the most followers and comments. As we continue to grow, more of our clients start tagging us which leads to recognition of the brand. This is a great app for business and personal life.

Alexis,

I agree with you that Instagram does more good than bad! I love Instagram and put a lot of time and effort into taking and editing pictures so that they all look nice on my feed. As funny as it sounds, it has made my interest in fashion and blogging go through the roof! Instagram was kind of a backbone of my desire to pursue a career in fashion and journalism and it lead me in the right direction! While it did start off as a simple app where people would just post pictures to connect with family and friends, it's now used to network and connect with other businesses and get ideas from others. It's one of my favorite social media outlets to use today and I can see it growing in the future.
