One of my favorite Instagram users (@humansofny) is a guy who goes around New York and gets random people’s life stories or whatever they may tell him. He takes their picture and post their exact words. I have been following him for a while now.

Recently, he met a young boy named Vidal with his family on the street. Vidal told @humansofny about his love he had for his school and principal of Mott Hall Bridges Academy. Vidal described to @humansofny how influential his principal is. Vidal’s story brought @humansofny attention to his school and which he had a chance of meeting Ms. Lopez the principal. @humansofny met with the principal and teachers of Mott Hall Bridges Academy for about a week. They came up with ways to continue education programs and ways to help these scholars (they don’t refer to their students as students) for their future and of course he documented it along the way making daily post. Vidal telling a stranger his love he had for his principal, who than posted it on Instagram brought so much awareness and funding for his school. In just four days there were over $700,000 donated to Mott Hall Bridges Academy.
Each year Ms. Lopez likes to take her scholars on a Harvard trip to show them there is more to where they know and more opportunities. She also wanted to start summer programs to keep her scholars out of trouble and keep their interest going while they aren't in school. With all of the donations, it allows Ms. Lopez to take her scholars for the next 10 years on their Harvard trip plus, enough funds for summer programs for the next 10 years.

So many people were touched by Ms. Lopez’s love for her scholars she was receiving flowers and letters in her office. Vidal even made the local news paper. It is amazing how meeting one person can change your life, and a post on social media can raise so much awareness.
