Although Andrew McMahon's music isn't extremely new, his music is a big part of my everyday life. Last night I went to see Andrew McMahon perform at the 4th annual Dear Jack Benefit. This is a charity that he created after he survived Leukemia and decided to help young adults with cancer. This is the 2nd one I have been to and it was absolutely amazing as usual. Every year it is on 11/11 which relates to the time 11:11 when many people make a wish.

Andrew was previously a member of the bands Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin. Something Corporate was a early 2000's pop punk band and Jack's Mannequin a pop/alternative band. Jack's Mannequin has been my favorite band for about 5 years now. Andrew's lyrics are incredibly unique and meaningful and each album is incredibly different from the other. I love how his music has so much variety and I never get sick of it.

The concert last night was all acoustic. Andrew performed every song with just his piano and no band. One of my other favorite bands called Hunter Hunted (I highly recommend them) opened for him and also did an incredible job. Andrew sang and performed flawlessly and I always enjoy going to his concerts. If you've never listened to Something Corporate, Jack's Mannequin, or Andrew McMahon's new solo EP, you will not regret it. Andrew is an absolutely incredible musician and he will probably always be my favorite.

I love all of Andrew McMahon's music! I'm so jealous you saw him live- I've never had the chance. I always thought that the album "Everything in Transit" which came out before he had leukemia strangely foreshadowed his illness. If you listen closely to come of the lyrics there is an eerie hint that is well being is at stake. But at least he is well now and doing great things to help others with such hardships. I haven't listened to his new solo EP but now I definitely will! He produces such great material, I'm glad somebody else still listens to it as much as I do.
