The Billboard Music Awards hyped a special event was going to occur during the 2014 broadcast of their awards show. That event was a holographic image of Michael Jackson dancing and singing to a song off his newly released album called “Xscape.” The song is titled “Slave to the Rhythm.” The song came from a recording session during the “Dangerous” album and was originally produced by L.A. Reid and Babyface. The new version was mixed by Timbaland and J-Roc. I was skeptical about how this would come off or even if it’s right to use his likeness considering he has been dead for several years now. As the performance started it appeared as if the image was out of sync with the music. But as it progressed I have to say it really looked as if Michael was really there dancing live with the other dancers and interacting for the crowd. Now that I think of it, his title for the new song appears to be fitting as Michael has become a slave even in death to the music moguls he protested so much against.
