Air Pollution Affecting Human Brains

So this week I actually found something interesting in the news that I’d like to share. So I’m sure you all probably know about the many different forms of pollution that are hitting our globe. Just recently in the news, there are some new discoveries on air pollution. For those of you that may not be as familiar with the issue, air pollution is basically when things like molecules, chemicals, and particulates are exposed into Earth’s atmosphere. Every time we drive a car, we allow carbon-rich auto exhausts to enter the air and that’s a common form of air pollution.
Although, we’ve known about the dangers of air pollution and what it does to our environment, it has also proven to be very bad on our lungs. Just recently there has been a discovery by Lancaster University that on top of affecting our lungs, toxic magnetite nanoparticles from air pollution have been found in human brains. Apparently the particles found were incredibly distinctive and identified as being products of car exhausts, industrial processes, and power stations. I don’t know the first thing about science but I do have an interest in politics and this political issue is something too many people continue to overlook. Time and time again, global researchers have warned us about the dangers of air pollution and new findings are just going to get scarier and scarier over the years.
However, this research is still fairly new and there’s so much more to find about these nanoparticles. Some studies have showed that brain metals can lead to Alzheimer’s disease, others have denied this but either way I’ll be curious to see where this magnetite research goes. If anyone is interested in looking more into the issue, I’ll provide you with some links. Feel free to share anything about the issue that you find; I’m very curious. Have a good day!
