Ever since Donald Trump brought up concerns about Hillary Clinton's "stamina", there has been speculations about her health. It wasn't talked much about until Trump kept bringing it up at every opportunity and the media quickly picked it up. She kept insisting everything was fine even after coughing fits during her campaigning and when she was talking to the press. Her campaign attributed it to allergies. She seemed to have debunked anything was wrong when she went to Jimmy Kimmel's late night show and humorously opened a jar of pickles seeming to prove she is in good health. Funnily, there were still speculations that the jar seemed to have been already partially opened because there didn't seem to be a pop. I guess people didn't understand that it wasn't meant to be taken seriously as a test that she was in good health.
During a September 11 Memorial Ceremony in New York, she had to leave early because she wasn't feeling well and then was caught on camera seeming to have fainted or about to faint. It was later learned that she was diagnosed with pneumonia. Understandably, people were concern that she might have been lying about her health and hiding something more serious. We believe that as voters, we should be informed from the candidates' taxes to their health records in order to be assured that that person is able to run a country. Then there were those who don't think it is a big deal. Why isn't she able to have sick days like everybody else? If her doctor says everything is fine, why are people mad that she hid it from the public? I can understand from both sides though why they think it's something to be concerned about and why it can also be nothing to be worried about.

Hi Carina!
Really love the topic you brought up. Whether or not our potential president is seriously sick is something every voter has a right to know. Though I think an important question is to be asked here. Which is, if Hillary were a man would she be suffering the same disbelief from voters as she is now? The fact is there is no sure way of knowing, but in my opinion I think that if a man would've opened that pickle jar and been okay that would've been the end of it. I highly doubt that there would be any question of whether or not the pickle jar was "half open." Then again it's important to take into account that this is politics and whether it be a man or a woman people will say just about anything to get who they want into office. Anyway, thanks so much for sharing!

I strongly believe all of us should be informed if the person we are electing is suitable to be our president, at the same time collect information to a certain extent. There should be analysis of whether whatever health issues arise from candidates will have an impact on decision making and at the same we have to take into consideration agreements like The Employment Equality Acts in order to avoid discrimination.

Everyone gets sick no one is immune from all illnesses. I can only imagine all the stress and pressure she is under. She is so close to being the first female U.S president and between Trump bullying her and campaigning for her presidency while making TV appearances she must be exhausted. Stress and lack of sleep can lower your immune system which is probably why she got pneumonia. She probably was also not following her doctor’s orders and felt that it was important to be at the 9/11 memorial. She needs to be cut some slack. I like Hillary although not as much as I like Bernie Sanders, but it seems that Hillary is going to be the Democratic nominee and it would be nice to finally have a woman running the country.

I think the pickle jar was silly and it does not come close to proving if a person is healthy or not but you make a good point about the gender stereotypes relating to physical strength.

Carina, I enjoyed reading your response.
There is definitely a feminism discrimination towards Clinton regarding her health because rarely if ever do we have headlines that state that a male candidate isn't a reliable person to vote for because he has pneumonia. A lot of people target the vulnerability of Clinton due to her gender and age, saying that since she's a woman she can't handle the hardship during the campaign trail because of illness and at nearly 70 years old, is too old and frail to be able to keep up with the tasks of being president.
I personally believe that Clinton has more obstacles to cross over in her path to presidency when compared to Trump. Yes, Trump does have it rough because of his inexperience in politics, career in reality television and an infamous "no-filter" mouth but do we ever hear that he's too old for the White House? Or that he's mentally ill because he's stuttering his words and disorienting his eyes while he gives speeches?
