Recently, Ivanka Trump was the star of her father's newest campaign advertisement regarding the rights of working women. We’ve known for quite some time that Ivanka is an advocate for these rights based off of her activity in starting a movement called “Women Who Work” as well her statements in previous political speeches but the whole thing seems a little funny to me. In the advertisement, she says “My father will change outdated labor laws so that they support women and American families." The ad aired yesterday and is receiving all sorts of responses on social media Some are positive, some not so much.

Here's my response.. Donald Trump has publicly stated that "Pregnancy is an inconvenient thing for a business" which sort of defeats this whole women working and raising a family thing that his daughter has continuously fought for. Also, at a rally when asked by a young girl if a women would make as much money as man during his presidency, he responded with, "You're gonna make as much money if you do as good of a job." But that's still not all. During an interview, Trump was asked, "So you treat women with respect?" He responded, "Well I can't say that either."

This advertisement doesn't mean anything for me if there have been numerous records showing his sexism and segregation towards female workers. The problem is that his supporters already have their minds made up. These clips of his unjust comments won't be changing any minds but a false advertisement by his daughter will surely reassure them that he is who they want in office. Her image may just be to soften his up a little but but it's not enough to fool me. Here is the link to the ad.

I totally agree with you. People have individual point of viewing politics . When it comes to politics, I really be careful of saying something in the public. However, I want to say this that this presidential election is just fucked up that I don't want to vote for anybody. First of all, Trump basically has some strong points that I agree on like he wants to cut off tax highest 10% to created more job and bring up promising small and middle size company. But, the way he talks and how he treats people in the public seems like he will not put those promises in action after he became president. Well, every where you go, politician are full of lies in order to get more vote. In fact, promises will not happen after they become president. How sad it is.

I took a look at the ad and I totally agree with yo. This ad will not change my mind at all into voting for trump. This election has been so full of mud slinging and distracting tactics by both parties that I personally am sick of watching the show. To soften the blow of many of his comments trump will simply get someone on the microphone and run an ad to do damage control. So sad for the future of politics in our country.

So true, as Trump’s daughter, Ivanka seems to be put in an awkward position because she is such a public figure, and to have to play politics can ruin her brand. As you said, Trump’s negative comments toward women getting pregnant and having to take maternity leave are patriarchal and misogynistic because not only should women be allowed to take maternity leave without repercussion, so should their spouses to help with the new baby at home. Many developed countries allow for partner leave when starting a family, and it has proven to help with employee satisfaction and retention. Yes, his daughter has nothing to do with what he will do while in office, and it is a weird political scheme to make it seems as if her image would help with his candidacy. As his daughter, her opinion is biased and can’t be taken seriously, as a true character reference. Even though she tries to create a “good guy” image for her father it is not working, and the recent release of his lewd remarks towards women only work against the story Ivanka is trying to spin on her father.

I don't know how his own children support him, I guess they just want to make it to the white house.

There is so much wrong with Trump that I cannot even begin to discuss all the things that bother me about him. He is a business man not a politician. He is very disrespectful to women; there are many women who have come out and said that they have been disrespected and humiliated by Trump. There is a pageant contestant that said Trump walked in to the dressing room with only a few minutes’ notice. The contestant said there was no reason for him to walk in to the dressing room in such short notice; women were undressed and uncomfortable around him. There was another woman who wanted to team up with him to start a pageant company; and ended up getting groped by him in one of his daughter’s bedroom at the time when his daughters were young girls. Another woman a Miss Universe said she was fat shamed by trump for gaining a few pound. He encouraged her and accompanied to the gym because he disapproved of her weight. In my opinion we need a President that is going to be a good example to our children and he obviously is not. I can’t believe he has made it this far in the Presidential race.

In every Presidential campaign that has ever been, the nominee's family is expected to have unwaivering support for the person running. It doesn't matter how terrible they are, they are groomed and coached and coerced into performing well- at least until the election is over. I think that most politician families behave this way in the public eye. Also, there is a lot to gain financially if Ivanka is on the campaign trail for her father. It puts her company in the limelight, and it cannot be terrible for growth at all. Who knows what her true values are- all I know is, you don't bite the hand that feeds you, and she definitely is where she is today because of her father.
