A tradition in American politics is going to the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner. The dinner is on the third Thursday of every October and it signifies the last time two candidates are together on the same stage. The first dinner was in 1945 and it is a fundraiser for Catholic charities that support needy children. Each individual ticket costs $3,000 and there are more than 1,500 donors that attend the dinner. At the dinner, Donald and Hillary both wrote speeches that jokingly teased one another.

In my opinion, Trump had good jokes but Clinton had the best jokes. Trump could have done a way better job at attacking Clinton. The moderately funny joke Trump made was "I wasn't really sure if Hillary was going to be here tonight because, I guess, you didn't send her invitation by email. Or maybe you did, and she just found out about it through the wonder of WikiLeaks," ( Bradner). One joke Hillary made was "Donald looks at the Statue of Liberty and sees a 4 -- maybe a 5 if she loses the torch and tablet and changes her hair." I think that was the best joke she made.

The whole dinner was very successful. More than 1,500 doners attended the dinner and it raised $6,000,000. The best part of the dinner was that so many people came together and raised a lot of money to donate to a good cause. I think that the whole world should come together and do stuff like that.
