Eight years ago, Barack Obama was elected President of the United States. He was condemned for his race, he was falsely accused of Islamic practice, he received more hate from the American people than anyone. Now we prepare for our next chapter. No, I'm not happy with the outcome of this election either but Mick Jagger told me that I can't always get what I want so I might as well get used to the idea.
With that being said, I've made a decision..after eight years of hearing "Not my president" among many other things, I'd rather not stoop down to that level. I apologize to all the liberals out there because although I share your disappointment, I refuse to say those words. He IS my president and he's yours as well. I'm not going to be anxiously waiting for every wrong move made by the president (like the GOP has for the past two terms). Instead, I hope that he'll turn out to be the leader that we need. The electoral college has been apart of our democracy for ages so constitutionally, he won fair and square. That's just how it is and we have to accept it.
And to fairly take a stab at the conservatives who are screaming "get over it" because so many are displeased with the results, I'd like to remind you where you were eight years ago. But don't sweat it..hypocrisy may run in your blood but it won't run in mine. In four years, maybe a reincarnated JFK can be our knight in shining armor to send forth; until that day comes, let's just hope for the best.
