Most of us are familiar with who Monica Lewinsky is. If you don't know, she is the woman who had an affair with President Bill Clinton During his time in office. Because Clinton lied about the affair, he got impeached. However, Monica Lewinsky was coined as many things such as a slut, a home-wrecker, and "the other woman." She recently gave a speech after not speaking for about a decade about the issue on hand. I heard the radio station I listen to share some clips of what she said. I wanted to share this because it goes hand in hand what I discussed last week about online bullying.

She admits that at the age of twenty-two, she made a terrible mistake of falling in love with her boss. She knows she had to pay the consequences, but she didn't know it would blow up every where. She went from a normal girl to a publicly humiliated one over night via the Internet. She explained that she "was patient zero" of online bullying, since the Internet was expanding at that time. Because of the Internet, this one mistake change not only how people viewed her, but how she viewed herself.

She also admits that because her reputation was ruined and she could no longer live a regular life, that she thought about ending her life. She hated herself, and didn't want to live anymore. Monica did do something wrong, but there are many more mistakes out there than that. She should not have gotten the back lash for her one mistake as a very young woman, which will forever haunt her forever. I truly do feel bad for Monica; she shouldn't have had to pay that big of a price. I applaud her as well for coming forward and speaking out.
