On September 30, 2016 in Pasadena, California an African American man by the name Reginald Thomas died under police custody. Thomas had a history with mental illness, which might had led to his actions that night. Media has given us the facts about this occurrence. The family of Reginald Thomas was the one who called police for help, as for Thomas had a knife in his hand and was hurting no one but himself – but the family could have been at risk. Voice recordings show that the person who called knew Reginald was intoxicated with drugs, and told the police. When, the officers arrived they saw Reginald, he was uncontrollable. Therefore, police took action and tased him. Now, one medium says he got tased twice and others say three times. But Reginald Thomas did not handle it and unfortunately past away.
The media had a lot to do with the afterwards reactions of others. Protesters soon began to join together throughout the whole day ( I heard them all day). But, what did the media transmit? That it was a racism act? Probably because, “Black Lives Matter” organization was aroused. But was it an act of race differences? Or Police negligence on how to act?
